Grady's Updates!

Screen Shot 2020-02-24 at 9.53.31 PM.png

Grady graduated from preschool in May and started kindergarten in August.  He is integrated in a typical classroom for a portion of the day and then taken to a specialized classroom for specific learning.  He is working on learning the letters of his name and his numbers.

Grady is currently working on feeding himself with his OT. He is doing exceptionally well getting the food to his mouth but still needs much assistance in getting the food on the utensil.  His OT is researching different strategies as well as equipment thar can help Grady reach this goal.

Grady is currently working with PT to continue making progress in walking. This includes stamina as well as being able to steer himself in the walker. Because of some increased strength in his core, his next walker will have a little less support and while this is fantastic, will require more work from Grady in order to walk for any length of time.

In speech, Grady is working towards putting two and three words together to express his needs better.  Up until this point, he has used one word commands to indicate his needs or wants. We are seeing some great progress here!

Grady received the Tobii Dynavox Eye Gaze which is a communication device that will allow Grady to use his eyes on a tablet device in order to communicate.

Eye tracking and eye control is a technology that makes it possible for computers to know exactly where the user is looking.  When eye tracking and eye control are combined with speech generating devices, communication opportunities are enable for individuals with special needs.

Grady love using his device and has become very adept at communicating with his family, physicians and therapists using the eye-speech technology.
